Winter Park Public Library announces moving plans: Here’s how it will impact services

WINTER PARK, FLA. — After years of planning and construction, the Winter Park Public Library announced its plans to move into its new building.

The library announced its first day of regular library operations in its new location at 1052 W. Morse Blvd., will begin Monday, Dec. 13 at 9 a.m. The library will host a community open house at its new building on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

To make the move possible, the old library building will be closed starting Oct. 31, which means regular library operations will stop on Oct. 29 at 6 p.m.

Here’s what library officials say the community can expect during the closure:

  • Extended lending period: Borrowed library materials will not be due before Dec. 15. No fines will be accrued during this period.
  • Returning items: Need to return borrowed material? The library will be picking up from the book drop at the old building daily in November.
  • Holds: All current holds will be fulfilled and will transfer to the new library building. You will not be able to place new holds on materials after Nov. 1.
  • Interlibrary loan: No new requests for interlibrary loan will be accepted after Oct. 15. Interlibrary loan will resume on Dec. 13.
  • Digital access: While the library is closed, you can use eBooks and audiobooks, stream movies, music, and TV shows, manage your account, and more.
