Woman hit by patrol car with emergency lights activated, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. — An investigation is underway after a woman was hit by an Orlando Police patrol car.

Orlando police said the crash occurred Saturday night at the intersection of East Colonial Drive and Orange Avenue.

According to police, a patrol unit responding to an emergency call was traveling with its emergency lights activated when a 27-year-old woman attempted to run across East Colonial Drive.

The woman ran against a “Do Not Walk” signal and into the path of oncoming traffic, police said.

She was struck by the marked patrol car and was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
