ORLANDO, Fla. — The man accused of beating an elderly woman during a home invasion will remain behind bars, for now. 55-year-old Ronald Davis was arrested on Saturday, a day after he allegedly broke into the woman’s home while her husband was out.

According to doctors, due to Lucy Pat Curl’s age and the medication she was on - surgery is not an option.
The Orlando Police Department said Curl has severe life-threatening injuries to her head and body, requiring her to be placed in a medically induced coma with a high likelihood of not surviving.
Officials said Davis has done something similar before and has recently gotten out of prison for it.

Update 10 a.m.:
Investigators said the man who brutally beat an 85-year-old woman in her home portrayed himself as a Community Service Officer to gain access.
Orlando Police said the incident happened around 1:45 p.m. on Friday, on Caribbean Court, when 55-year-old Ronald Davis forced his way into the home of an elderly woman.
Arrest records state Davis knocked on the door and claimed to be a Community Service Officer and that he needed to check her residence.
The victim, who was home alone at the time, stated she needed to see some identification, and then Davis flashed a driver’s license from his wallet and showed it to her.
Police said he then forced his way inside the home and started attacking her. Police said she attempted to fight Davis back until he knocked her unconscious.

Curl was by herself on Friday afternoon when police say, a man broke into her home and beat her, leaving her critically hurt.
OPD identified the man was identified as 55-year-old Ronald Davis. He is now facing a slew of charges, including home invasion, robbery with a weapon, and aggravated battery on a person over 65.
Police say the incident happened around 1:45 p.m. on Friday, on Caribbean Court, just east of John Young Parkway, not far from the First Baptist church. The community now left on edge.
“This is just surreal that is happened that it happened at noon around lunchtime. Unbelievable,” said Nicholas Vincent, who lives near where it all happened. According to OPD, the victim’s husband found her severely hurt in their garage, honking for help. The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. “An older person who was vulnerable and I hope he goes away for a long time,” said Vincent.
Davis had been released from jail in June of 2024 after being sentenced to 15 years for yet another burglary case. The suspect is being held here at the Orange County Jail, with no bond.
