FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The search continues for the Army private and St. Cloud native who disappeared near Fort Bragg in North Carolina this weekend.
Officials at Fort Bragg said Pfc. Kelli Bordeaux, 23, was last seen early Saturday morning leaving a bar in Fayetteville and didn't show up to her post Monday.
Police said they've gotten information that suggests she could be in danger, and her family has reportedly traveled to the military base to help with the search.
However, an Army official said Bordeaux got a ride with a bar employee and sent two text messages, including one that said she had gotten home safely.
Investigators have been canvassing the area near where the last ping was reported on Bordeaux’s cellphone.
“We are searching the area of Froggy Bottoms up on the north end of Ramsey Street along the I-295 corridor,” authorities said.
"Being a soldier to Kelli isn't something she'd jeopardize for anything," said Bordeaux’s sister, Olivia Cox. "Missing work isn't something that's in character for Kelli. This is an out-of-character thing to happen to my sister."
Bordeaux used to work at the St. Cloud Sonic, where managers said she rode her roller-skates to work. They described her as an all-American girl who joined the Army hoping to make a difference in her life.
