OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Osceola County leaders unanimously passed a new ordinance Monday decriminalizing small amounts of marijuana.
Before, people caught with 20 grams or less would face an arrest and charge of a first-degree misdemeanor.
Under the new ordinance, officers will be able to issue a $100 citation instead of making an arrest.
That decision though, is up to the officer's discretion.
The new ordinance will go into effect in 30 days.
