OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The Osceola County School Board is expected to vote on a plan to install vape detection devices at several middle and high schools.

The system would provide school staff with real-time alerts when vaping is detected, enabling students to be referred to vape-prevention services.

The proposed system would cost approximately $191,000.

District officials plan to pay for the devices using money received through an opioid settlement involving multiple pharmaceutical companies.

The School Board is expected to consider the proposal during its meeting.
