OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is adding a new four-legged member to help search for missing people.
Senior Resource Alliance said it donated K9 Valor, a bloodhound trained to help locate missing people, particularly those with dementia or developmental disabilities such as autism.
The organization said Valor has undergone training with Scent Evidence K9 and will work alongside Deputy Luis Paredes-Labrador.
Senior Resource Alliance will also provide the sheriff’s office with scent evidence kits designed to preserve a person’s unique scent for up to 10 years to assist during searches.
Valor will be introduced during a news conference at the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 6 at 10:30 a.m.
Senior Resource Alliance said its Bringing the Lost Home project has donated 11 K9s to local law enforcement agencies since 2021, and those dogs have helped locate more than 100 people.
