Child hospitalized following Kissimmee hotel fire, officials say

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A child is in recovery after a fire broke out at an Osceola County hotel early Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were called to the Lake Cecile Inn in the 4900 block of W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway around 5 a.m.

Fire officials were able to quickly extinguish the fire at the hotel, where families had been living without power or water for weeks.

“I heard a big bang and my parents ran out the door so I ran with them,” said one resident. “I looked to my left and I saw fire just blazing out.”

Officials said seven people were placed under arrest at the motel because they became confrontational with deputies that attempted to move them back from the fire. A man that was arrested faces charges of arson, but it isn’t clear why they started the fire, according to officials.
