Man negligently handling gun shoots, kills woman in Osceola County, deputies say

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A man who was negligently handling a gun shot and killed a woman, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said they responded to 133 Pickering Drive in Kissimmee in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival, investigators said they found Savannah Threatts, who had been shot and killed.

An investigation revealed that Anthonny Mendez, a roommate and friend of Threatts, had been handing a gun negligently and ultimately shot Threatts.

Mendez was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of probation.

He is being held at the Osceola County Jail on no bail.

A neighbor told Channel 9 that some people were “fooling around” with a gun before it went off.

The neighbor also said the shooting happened around 2 a.m.
