Here’s how you can host a sleepover for a shelter pup this holiday season

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — There’s no place like home for the holidays for both humans and dogs alike.

To give adoptable dogs a break from the animal shelter, Osceola County Animal Services is giving local families the ability to foster dogs for short-term stays during the holiday season.

The Holiday Sleepover program lets the dogs take a vacation and gives families some extra company during the festive season. The program runs from Dec. 16 to Jan. 9.

The shelter supplies all the necessary supplies for the dog, and host families pick the days for their stay.

Shelter officials said all of the dogs participating in the program are fully vetted for health and safety and are matched to homes where both the hosts and dogs will be comfortable, based on other pets, children and other individual needs.
