SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A Seminole County woman watched in horror as her beloved pet was ripped from her car and mauled to death by another dog Sunday afternoon.
Janice Rentos said she felt helpless as her beloved Spanky was viciously attacked.
“It happened so quick I felt helpless. I was screaming at the top of my lungs but there was no one around,” Rentos said.

By the time help did arrive it was too late. Spanky had succumbed to his injuries.
“It’s the most horrible experience I’ve ever experienced and I would never want anyone to go through that,” Rentos said.
According to Rentos, the dogs that attacked Spanky had escaped from a nearby business and are known to roam the neighborhood freely.
Rentos says that the problem is in Seminole County there have to be two events before a dog can be labeled as dangerous.
Since Seminole County changed its aggressive dog ordinance in 2018, 60 dogs have been labeled as aggressive and only 6 of those are from 2020.
