OCALA, Fla. — Two former Merry Maids employees have been arrested on charges they stole from an Ocala woman who hired them to clean her home, police said.

Nichole Blanchard and Brittany Moore are accused of going to the customer’s home in the 1100 block of SE 18th Street on May 16 for a one-time house cleaning.

A few days later, the customer was alerted by her bank that unusual charges had been made on her account, investigators said.

From May 16-18, the customer’s credit card was used for small purchases at several restaurants and gas stations.

The victim contacted one of the businesses where someone attempted, unsuccessfully, to use the card, a tattoo shop, and the manager told her that two women wearing Merry Maids uniforms had tried to use the card.

One used the victim’s passport as identification, police said.

Investigators were able to identify Blanchard and Moore as suspects in the theft.

The pair has since been fired by Merry Maids.

The company released a statement on the allegations, saying the charges would not be tolerated.

“We take this matter very seriously and can assure the community that this behavior does not reflect the values and standards of our company,” the statement said.

Both women were arrested and charged with fraud and forgery.
