Police arrest bank robbery suspect with help of wife

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Police arrested a man on charges of robbing a Daytona Beach Wells Fargo on Seabreeze Boulevard Saturday afternoon.

Daytona Beach police said Anthony William Carpino, 44, entered the bank and passed a note to a teller asking for money and implying he had a gun.

Carpino was given money in a brown paper bag, which was found outside the front door of the bank after a customer followed him.

Police recovered the bag and found $183 inside. The teller said Carpino stole a total of $759.

Kristi Carpino, Carpino's wife, contacted police and said her husband was the man in pictures she saw of on Facebook of the robbery.

Kristi Carpino consented to a search of the couple's home and additional evidence of the robbery was found.

Anthony Carpino was taken to the Daytona Beach Police Department where he confessed to the robbery. He said he committed the crime due to a recent drug relapse.
