Police: Man with nunchucks tries to rob victim in laundromat

Robert McGee

TAVARES, Fla. — A man pulled nunchucks and a knife on another man inside a Tavares laundromat Saturday, police said.

Authorities said Robert McGee threatened the man inside the Arrington’s Coin Laundry on West Alfred Street and demanded money.

The victim said he talked to McGee to try to defuse the situation.

Police said McGee left the laundromat and drove off in a black and orange golf cart, along with a woman.

Authorities said they found McGee on Ruby Street and arrested him. Police said McGee had a knife in his pocket and they also found the nunchucks in the golf cart’s cubby.

The woman, Cherelle Gordon, was also arrested.

McGee was booked into the Lake County Jail.
