ORLANDO, Fla. — The 36-year-old man who was shot and killed Thursday morning at an Orlando apartment complex was identified by police as Lawarence Pipkin Jr.
Pipkin was found shot multiple times outside a building in Rosemont’s Village Park at Lake Orlando apartment complex shortly before 8:30 a.m., police said.
Witnesses described the gunman as a black man wearing a black shirt and red shoes. They told investigators they heard nearly a dozen gunshots.
The suspect ran to a silver Dodge Durango with tinted windows after the shooting, police said. Another person was driving the SUV, they said.
Residents at the complex were shocked by the incident.
“I look and I figure someone is just playing with the fireworks,” said Debbie, a resident who withheld her last name. “Then I see a guy run between the two buildings.”
Investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
The shooting death was the 33rd homicide of the year, a significant increase from the previous year, police said.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Orlando police or Crimeline at 407-423-8477.
