4 teenagers charged with attempted murder after running over Polk County woman

POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Four teenagers from the Winter Haven/Auburndale area were charged with attempted murder after deputies said they purposefully ran over the mother of another teenager with whom they had an ongoing dispute.

Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the teenage victim’s home in Polk City at about 3 p.m. Monday and found a woman critically injured after she was run over by a van.

Investigators said that Elijah Stansell, 18, brought three friends: Raven Sutton, 16; Kimberly Stone, 15; and Hannah Eubank, 14; to the victim’s home to handle the ongoing dispute.

The suspects banged on the victim’s front door, but the victim came out of the side door and into the carport to see who was there. The teenagers ran to the carport, where Stansell physically attacked the victim.

The victim went back into his home and was followed by Stansell and Sutton, according to a report.

Deputies said at that time, the victim’s mother came home and the teenagers ran off.

The victim’s mother followed them and watched them get into their van, which was parked across the street, deputies said.

The mother began taking photos of the suspects and the van with her cellphone.

Investigators said as the woman stood in the roadway, Stansell intentionally ran into her, then over her.

Deputies said there was enough room for the van to maneuver around the woman.

There were several witnesses to the incident, along with home surveillance videos, deputies said.

The video footage shows the suspect approaching the front door, the group of suspects going around to the side and attacking the victim, the attack inside the home, the suspects fleeing, and the suspects running over the victim’s mother.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she remains in very critical condition.

Stansell was booked into the Polk County Jail on the following charges: attempted felony murder, burglary with assault, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and lewd and lascivious battery on a minor.

Sutton, Eubank, and Stone were arrested and taken to the JAC on the following charges: attempted felony murder and burglary with assault.

“This was a coordinated, planned attack, carried out by a group of teens who beat up a teen then ran over his mother, leaving her for dead," said Sheriff Grady Judd. "I can’t even fathom teenagers doing something so heinous. Our prayers are with this family.”
