UPDATE: Power has been restored to New Smyrna Beach customers. Officials said the outage had to do with a substation going down in DeBary.
Duke Energy customers throughout Volusia County who lost power should have it restored as well.
Officials siad thousands lost power due to damage to a transmission line.
EARLIER: New Smyrna Beach was under a citywide power outage Tuesday, police said.
The cause of the outage, which was reported at about 5:14 p.m., is unclear.
The Utilities Commission said power should be restored within the hour and anyone with concerns can call the after-hours line at 386-427-1366.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said traffic lights are affected and drivers should use caution.
