ORLANDO, Fla. — The grandfather of Latoya Jackson, who is suspected of shooting a pregnant woman in the back, is pleading for her to turn herself in.
“She just needs to turn herself in,” the man, who did not want to give his name, said. “If she did this, she needs to turn herself in. Even if she did or didn’t, she needs to turn herself in.”
The victim, Tiara White, 29, is six months pregnant, police said.
She was reportedly shot in the back and arm as she left a liquor store with friends late Monday.
White and her friends told police that they got into an argument with Jackson and some other women at the liquor store. The other women were armed with bats and a machete, the woman told police.
As White and her friends were walking away from the store, they told police that a car drove by and a woman inside opened fire.
Jackson is facing charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault with a firearm in connection with the shooting.
White’s injuries are not life-threatening, police said. No information was released on the status of the baby.
