Reports: Man arrested in fatal shopping plaza shooting over stripper

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Details were released Friday on a fatal shooting in Orange County just a day after Thanksgiving.

A man was killed and another wounded after the incident over a stripper who was dating two men, according to reports.

Nelson Vargas was arrested on a first-degree murder charge Thursday in connection to the shooting.

Vargas was arrested in South Carolina and returned to Florida. He appeared before a judge Friday morning.

Deputies said they are searching for Vargas' brother, Wilfredo Vargas, who was also involved.

Investigators said it was the day after Thanksgiving when Nelson Vargas shot and killed a man and wounded another man in a parking lot of an Orange County shopping center.

According to arrest reports, Nelson Vargas and Wilfredo Vargas went to the shopping center on University Boulevard to confront Miguel Leon, who was seeing the same woman as Wilfredo Vargas.

Reports said Nelson Vargas began shooting at Leon and his friend, Stephen Thivierge, who also had a gun and returned fire.

Investigators said Thivierge ran away but later died after being shot in the chest.
Leon survived.

According to deputies, three witnesses identified the Vargas brothers in photo lineups as the shooters.

Nelson Vargas is being held without bail, authorities said.
