Search continues for man accused of kidnapping, shooting ex-girlfriend to death

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities are searching for a man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend to death after forcing her into the trunk of a car.

Investigators said Jasmine Samuel was in the parking lot of a Sunoco Products during her break at work at about 12 a.m. Thursday, and that's when David Payne, 62, forced her into the car and drove away.

Samuel, 25, called 911 from the trunk of the car and said she had been kidnapped. Deputies found the car in the south Orlando Taft area on 11th Avenue with Samuel's body in the trunk about 90 minutes later.

"From inside the trunk, she was able to dial 911 from her cellphone and tell the dispatcher she had been kidnapped and forced into her car," said Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings. "This individual is a dangerous individual."

Deputies said Samuel was a mother of two and Payne's ex-girlfriend.

"I know she's OK. I know she gave her life to save her kids," said Jasmin Samuel's aunt, Tina Samuel.

Tina Samuel said she's taking care of Jasmine Samuel's children.

Tina Samuel said the couple broke up a week ago.
