ORLANDO, Fla. — Deputies continue to search for a man who tried to rape a University of Central Florida student over the weekend.
Deputies released a composite sketch of the suspect after the attempted attack at the Arden Villas apartments near the UCF campus.
Residents said they were notified by email of the search for the attacker.
Deputies said he forced the student inside her apartment and tried to sexually assault her.
"Especially in Orlando, with a whole bunch of college kids, I think that's horrible," said resident Meaghan Leslie.
Apartment complex officials said they are stepping up efforts to try to keep residents safe by hiring two security guards.
"There is only so much people can do. We can't expense the funds to have people walk every single girl to their car or apartment. So, it's a step in the right direction," said neighbor Rachel Adair.
The attempted rape happened days after UCF police and the Orange County Sheriff's Office announced a joint initiative to reduce crime near campus.
The complex said it is working to become "crime-free multi housing certified" to help notify residents more quickly when crime happens.
"This isn't the first time I've heard about something like this and it won't be the last," said Adair.
Meanwhile, residents fear the composite sketch won't be enough to catch the culprit.
"I can name so many people I know that look like that," said Leslie.
Crimeline is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the man's arrest.
