Boutique hotel coming to historic downtown Sanford

Last week, the city broke ground on the new Fulton Park development, which eventually will feature a 50-room boutique hotel called First Street Station. Phase one of the project will include 32 townhomes.

Business owners say a hotel is much needed. They said with so much going on in downtown Sanford, it’s hard to send people to the closest hotel, which is 3 miles away.

Christina Hollerbach, of Hollerbach’s Willow Tree, said she would like a hotel within walking distance.

“We have lots of events that are multi-day. And I’ve got nowhere to put people, nowhere to put my entertainers. So having a place where people can stay connected to the downtown by staying here is going to be essential to our growth,” Hollerbach said.
