CASSELBERRY, Fla. — The suspect in the 2018 New Year’s Day murder of a Casselberry teen during a drug deal was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Thursday.
Antwann Ricks, 21, admitted to the judge that he went to Lake Hodge Park in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day 2018 to rob Bryce Williams, 17, of the drugs he was going to sell him.

Ricks’ attorney says Ricks didn’t mean to shoot and kill Williams.
“It’s a tragedy for both families,” public defender Jeff Dowdy said. “The gun went off accidentally. Antwann has never been in trouble before and it’s a sad day.”

Ricks pleaded to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 20 years behind bars. Williams’ grandmother Kim Crow told the judge she did not agree with the plea deal and asked for 40 years, but that did not happen.
The family is planning a candlelight vigil at Lake Hodge Park at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
