Seminole County firefighters use boat to find man lost overnight in thick vegetation

LONGWOOD, Fla. — A Seminole County man was rescued overnight after becoming lost in the Sabal Point area of Longwood.

Firefighters said dispatchers were notified about the lost man around 3:45 a.m.

Officials said the man had entered the area around 2 p.m. Saturday and had not been seen since.

The Seminole County Fire Department searched the area before determining it was best to use a boat to check the backcountry and trails due to high water levels and thick vegetation.

Firefighters used a boat on the Wekiva River and found the man in the woods through about three miles of mud and high water from the trailhead.

Officials said the man did not need any medical attention.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the search.
