LAKE MARY, Fla. — The Lake Mary Police Department released a composite sketch Thursday morning of a man they said tried to grab a 9-year-old girl while she was playing outside her home.

Police said they were called at about 6:45 p.m. Monday to the Bell Timacuan apartments near Rinehart Road and Timacuan Boulevard after the man grabbed the girl by the arm.

Investigators said the girl's mother was putting away groceries in her apartment.

“She was playing on her hoverboard, minding her own business," said Zach Hudson, a police spokesman. “And she realized she was in trouble."

The girl told police the man tried to drag her behind the apartment buildings onto a sidewalk, but she screamed and ran away.

Police said the man also ran away.
