Sinkhole eats car in Citrus County

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — A water main break in Beverly Hills has caused a massive sinkhole that swallowed a car whole, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sinkhole was reported Monday morning on Truman Boulevard, causing the street to be closed from South Washington Street to South Barbour Street.

Road maintenance crews were on the scene to assess the damage, along with the sheriff’s office, fire department and water company.

No injuries were reported in connection with the water main break or ensuing sinkhole, but the sheriff’s office urged residents to avoid the area until further notice.
