Soccer stars get rides from local fans after bus breaks down

ORLANDO, Fla. — Stars from the US women's soccer team got rides from central Florida fans after their bus broke down near the Citrus Bowl on Saturday.

The local soccer fans were ecstatic when the stars of the team hitched a ride with them after a public training session. The team's bus was headed back to their hotel when it broke down just outside of the Citrus Bowl.

Abby Wambach, Hope Solo and Sydney Leroux all took to Twitter, posting photos with the fans in the car.

"Our bus broke down at the stadium. Option A: Hitchhike with fans. Option B: Wait. What do you think we did?" Leroux tweeted Saturday afternoon.

The soccer stars also posted on Twitter that they were thankful for their fans' help in getting them back to their hotel.

"We really do have THE BEST fans! I mean, having our backs when our bus breaks down? And getting us back to our hotel safely! Awesome!" Solo tweeted.

The team was in town to face Brazil at the Citrus Bowl on Sunday. The U.S. Women's team went on to trounce Brazil 4-1 with two goals from Leroux, one from Wambach and another from Erika Tymrak.
