Sorority packs over 70,000 meals for families in need during Central Florida conference

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. packages more than 70,000 meals for needy families during 70th International Conference in Orlando.

This year’s theme was “The Magic of Excellence in the City Beautiful.”

In addition to packing meals, the sorority was presented with the Hunger Hero Pioneer Award, recognizing its work with the organization over the past two years.

Alpha Kappa Alpha was a major contributor to the launch of U.S. Hunger’s Virtual Food Drive program at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The sorority continued the momentum for two years, feeding thousands of families across the country.

During the conference, Soles 4 Soles collected gently worn shoes to be donated around the world, and the Lions Club International collected pairs of gently used eyeglasses.
