WATCH: SpaceX successfully launches Falcon Heavy rocket Sunday

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — 8:30 p.m. Update:

As May approaches, SpaceX crews successfully launches its Falcon Heavy rocket Sunday night at Cape Canaveral.

5:30 p.m. Update:

SpaceX tweeted that due to ground wins, the new launch time is 8:26 p.m.

The Falcon Heavy rocket aims to launch the ViaSat-3 Americas mission, which will send several communications satellites into orbit.

The Astranis’s first MicroGEO satellite and Gravity Space’s GS-1 satellite is also on board.

SpaceX tweeted that systems and weather should be favorable for the launch.

The 57-minute launch window opens at 7:29 p.m.
