SunRail train clips tail end of car in Lake Mary

LAKE MARY, Fla. — A SunRail train collided with a car just before 5 p.m. Thursday, causing traffic delays in Lake Mary.

The crash happened on Lake Mary Boulevard east of Country Club Road.

Lake Mary Boulevard was shut down in both directions while officials investigated and cleared the scene. The train started moving again at about 6:30 p.m.

Florida Department of Transportation officials said the southbound train clipped the tail end of the vehicle, which was on the track when the bars for the passing train went down.

The driver told Channel 9 she was not able to move further up because of traffic.

There were no injuries to the driver or the people aboard the train.

The trains are delayed by about 40 minutes because of the crash, SunRail officials said.
