SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — WFTV has dramatic surveillance video that shows a man police think robbed two different restaurants.
The man was masked when he pointed a gun at Paige Sanders as she was loading cash into the safe at the Oviedo Dunkin Donuts.
“I was in shock for a second,” Sanders said. “I was, like,’OK.’ I started laughing a little bit. I was like, is this serious? And then he started yelling, and then he showed me a gun."
The robber forced Sanders and her co-worker to shove nearly $1,000 into a brown paper bag. He then took off, but what the crook didn't know was that Sanders’ boyfriend, Erik Khan, was outside.
“It was like stealing candy from a baby, you know,” Khan said. “She already had the money out. He just put a gun on her."
So, Kahn ran toward the man’s car and tried to memorize the license plate, but he said the robber had blocked it off with a piece of paper.
“It made me feel like an idiot,” said Khan. “I was, like, ‘Oh, I got him now,’ and he turned and there was a piece of paper. I was, like, ‘Are you serious?’"
The robber got away, but Seminole County detectives believe he could also be the man who robbed a Five-Star Pizza on Alafaya Trail one week earlier.
Both men were white and dressed head to toe in black. The only difference was that when the man robbed the Dunkin Donuts, he wasn’t wearing any shoes.
Sanders said she is upset the shoeless robber got away, but she can’t help but feel relieved no one in either robbery was hurt.
“I was a little bit terrified, because I've never had a gun pointed at my face,” she said. “I mean, it was a little bit scary."
Investigators believe the man got away in a black Toyota Corolla.
