Suspected meth lab in motel room busted

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla.,None — Orange County Sheriff’s deputies removed dangerous chemicals from a suspected meth lab inside a motel on Wednesday night.

Investigators spent hours looking into a suspected meth lab at a local motel.

They got a tip Wednesday night that someone was making meth inside a room at the Countryside Inn and Suites on Lee Road.

Workers dressed from head to toe in protective gear before they walked in to investigate the room.

Emergency crews were at the ready.

It appeared they pulled some items from room 153, and put them into a bucket.

“I knew there was a smell coming from there,” said Josh Capps, a motel guest.  “I didn’t know what it was.”

Six people who lived in the room were detained. One woman was arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant.

“They need to get out of here,” said Capps.  “I have six kids.  They need to get out of here.  They don’t need to be here with that nastiness.”

“There’s always a reason behind it,” said Hailey Monterosso, a motel guest. “Like you have an addiction or a way to make money.”

According to experts, methamphetamine can explode when different solvents evaporate in poorly ventilated areas.

The motel’s managers said the guests in the room where the chemicals were found would be kicked-out if they were arrested.
