CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A sport utility vehicle crashed into the back of a stopped school bus in Clay County on Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 6:31 a.m. on northbound State Road 21 near Howard Road.
What happened
FHP said the school bus stopped in the right lane, activated its warning lights and extended its stop arm.
A 60-year-old Ocala woman driving behind the bus failed to slow down or stop, according to the crash report. Troopers said the SUV veered onto the right shoulder before returning to the travel lane and striking the back of the bus.
The 33-year-old Middleburg woman driving the school bus and the SUV driver were not injured.
FHP did not say whether any students were aboard the bus at the time of the crash.
The vehicles blocked the right lane and part of the left lane following the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
