ORLANDO, Fla. — An 80-year record was “crushed” in Orlando on Thursday, Channel 9 certified chief meteorologist Tom Terry said.

A whopping 3.84 inches of rainfall was reported at Orlando International Airport on Thursday, Terry said, easily breaking the 1943 record of 1.74 inches.

The record rainfall was enough to take the region’s yearly rainfall deficit down from -6.42 inches to -2.58 inches.
In addition to the rain, strong wind gusts and marble hail was also reported in Conway.

Terry said expect seabreeze thunderstorms mid- to late-afternoon Friday and Saturday, with a more widespread heavy rain event Sunday and Monday.
