ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — It’s peanut butter time.
On Tuesday, The Salvation Army in Parramore received about 17 tons of it from an unexpected donor.
For families that may be cooking at home now more than they have in the past, peanut butter can provide a key ingredient for a simple meal, or a quick snack.
Dozens of volunteers packed the peanut butter into 16-ounce containers that will be passed out Wednesday morning at The Salvation Army beginning at 10 a.m. and at Zellwood Elementary in Orange County Wednesday afternoon.
The peanut butter started with a trucker coming from a plant in Alabama trying to make a delivery to outside of Orlando. The original plant declined to accept it.
Capt. Ken Chapman, with The Salvation Army, said the peanut butter is valued at more than $26,000.
