Trappers still on the hunt for aggressive alligator in Marion County river

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — A popular swimming hole in Marion County is still closed and will be for the foreseeable future until a nuisance alligator is caught.

Wildlife officials say a trapper will continuously be out in the river at Rainbow River at KP Hole Park in Dunnellon searching for the gator, which caused concern when it attacked a boat.

Swimming is not allowed, but people are allowed to go canoeing and kayaking.

Witnesses described the alligator as being 8 feet long one mile away from the swimming area.
