CENTRAL FLA. — Tropical Depression Fay has reorganized in the open Atlantic and is forecast to become a tropical storm once again.
The 5 pm advisory from the National Hurricane Center had winds of 35 mph.
The complex has reformed its center of circulation and has been reclassified as a tropical system.
Fay is anticipated to strengthen further and become a short-lived tropical storm on Thursday.
After that, the system is expected to weaken and become a remnant low again this weekend.
Fay is moving to the west at 8 mph and is expected to maintain its westward movement over the next several days.
The complex is anticipated to remain out to sea in the open Atlantic.
Fay formed early Sunday morning when Tropical Depression Six was upgraded to tropical storm status in the open Atlantic. It became a remnant low on Tuesday.
It is the sixth named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.
