Two men detained after body found in Melbourne home, police say

Melbourne police said they detained two men in connection with a homicide investigation.

Officers said they received a tip of a possible unreported death at 2542 Leewood Blvd.

Detectives said two men were seen leaving the home in a box truck.

Officers said the men were discarding items in trash dumpsters along several beachside communities. Police said they secured any dumpster believed to contain items.

The men were eventually stopped by patrol units at State Road 518 and South Patrick Dive, where they were detained.

Police identified the men as Nicholas McDuffie and Victor Jonathan Cruz.

McDuffie faces charges of tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, failure to report a death and driving while his license is suspended.

Cruz faces charges of tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Detectives and crime scene investigators entered the home at 2542 Leewood Blvd., where a body was found.

The body was identified as Tyler Michael Moore.

The investigation is ongoing.
