U.S. Marine charged with downloading child porn

OVIEDO, Fla. — An Oviedo man has bonded out of jail Friday night after being arrested on child pornography charges.

WFTV learned 27-year-old Robert Hernandez also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Investigators said their investigation is nowhere near over.

Oviedo police said they will begin the process of going through his electronics piece by piece.

They said they have no idea just how much porn he had or how long he's been at it.

Everyone Channel 9 spoke to in Hernandez' Oviedo neighborhood said he seemed like an average guy with nothing to hide.

After getting a tip from his Internet service provider about child porn, authorities arrested Hernandez Friday. Then they raided his house, seizing his computers, cellphones, memory cards, and CDs.

Resident Mike McClay said he's lived in Oviedo for 25 years and raised his whole family in Oviedo.

"Kind of surprised that it happens around here," McClay said.

"It's dumbfounding. That's about all I can say," said resident Robert Braciak.

Residents said what's even more concerning, is that a school bus stop was right in front of Hernandez's home in a neighborhood packed with children and families.

"Without a doubt, without a doubt, there's kids all over the place. I'm stunned," Braciak said.

Hernandez' Facebook shows he works as an air condition tech, but spent nearly four years in the Marine Corps before that.

No one answered the door where he was arrested and lived with his girlfriend.

Later WFTV received a tip that he was hiding out at his parents' house.

WFTV went there, trying to get his side of the story but the people inside wouldn't answer the door.

More charges could be coming depending on what exactly investigators find.
