SANFORD, Fla. — Someone posted a video to Facebook this week claiming to have seen cockroaches crawling over the hot dog rollers at a Sanford 7-Eleven, prompting the city to contact the Department of Health.
An assistant manager at the store, located in the area of West 25th Street and Airport Boulevard, told Channel 9 Wednesday that her 7-Eleven does not have a roach problem and didn’t believe the video was shot in her store.
The person who posted the video cited the store’s address, but when Channel 9 reporter Angela Jacobs visited the 7-Eleven, she didn’t see any problems with bugs.

A pest control technician, though, was seen entering the store and going behind the counter.
Tim Kearney said he is a regular customer at the 7-Eleven.
“My brother and I, we go there every Sunday,” he said. “We grab an energy drink, maybe a taquito, maybe a hot dog.”

When he saw the video, Kearney reacted with shock.
“Ah, ha ha,” he said. “The fact that they were comfortable hanging out on the hot dogs shows me there’s probably a little more than meets the eye. I’d hate to see the back room.”
After seeing the video, Sanford city officials said they opened a complaint with the Florida Department of Health.
State officials said an inspector was sent to the store Wednesday, but a report was not immediately available.
The store passed its most recent inspection, but received seven citations for cleaning and food storage procedures.
