OCALA, Fla. — Vintage World War II aircraft brought back vivid memories for some Ocala-area veterans.
The Gainesville Sun (http://bit.ly/1sjsm31 ) reported Saturday that the vintage warbirds are on display at the Ocala International Airport are part of a national tour.
The B-17G Flying Fortress and B-24J Liberator arrived Friday.
William Rich, 93, came to see the planes. Rich served with the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 through 1945, said he survived 35 missions over Europe. Rich served with the 95th Bomb Group, 412th Squadron, based in Horham, England. The group was among the first to bomb Berlin.
Jack Jones, 89, trained on B-24 bombers.
Jones said it was his first time since the war to see the aircraft.
