VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A precautionary boil water notice is in effect for Volusia County water utility customers in several communities across Volusia and Flagler counties. The advisory was issued after an electrical disruption caused by inclement weather led to a temporary loss of water pressure.
The electrical disruption temporarily stopped the pumping equipment, resulting in a drop in pressure. Volusia County utility crews responded and restored the water system to normal operation.
The affected areas include Halifax Plantation, Sugar Mill, Fairchild Oaks, Plantation Oaks of Flagler, and Wexford Cove. Halifax Plantation is located in Volusia County, while Sugar Mill, Fairchild Oaks, and Plantation Oaks of Flagler are in Flagler County. Wexford Cove spans across both counties, and all five communities receive water service from Volusia County.
Under the precautionary notice, affected residents should bring water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use. Utility officials also advise customers to discard any ice produced by automatic ice makers or use bottled water as an alternative.

In accordance with regulatory requirements, Volusia County will conduct bacteriological testing to confirm that the water is safe to drink. The precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until testing confirms the system meets required standards, and the county will notify affected customers when the advisory is lifted.
