They’re working with the city of Daytona Beach to adjust some of the zoning regulations to allow for smaller lot sizes.

Lucy Stewart Desmore with Realty Pros says they believe the development could offer an affordable option to first-time home buyers the market has priced out.

“You create a community someone can see, that the dirt did turn over,” Desmore said. “To see that first house, when it goes up, then it will catch on.”

The plan is to build about 36 homes on a wooded lot near Brentwood Drive and Center Avenue in Daytona Beach. They would each be approximately 500-square-feet and would sell for around $150,000.

Desmore says they looked to similar developments in Jacksonville, Tallahassee and Oviedo for inspiration.
