VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A precautionary boil water notice for Volusia County Water Utility customers in the Lake Marie Estates community in DeBary has been lifted, county officials announced.
The notice was originally issued on Thursday, Sept. 24, after a private contractor struck and damaged a water main serving the neighborhood.
Volusia County completed two rounds of required bacteriological testing following the damage to the main line. Both testing rounds met all regulatory standards, confirming the water is safe for consumption.
Utility customers in the affected area may resume using water without boiling. Normal use includes drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth and washing dishes.
County officials noted that the private contractor responsible for striking the water main was not affiliated with Volusia County or the City of DeBary.
