Brandy Franco Brandy Lee Franco, 41, was booked into the Volusia County Jail just after midnight Thursday on charges of possessing a controlled substance without a prescription and advertising drug paraphernalia, according to jail records.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — One of the owners of the dogs that killed 8-year-old Michael Millett in DeLand is back in jail, this time on drug-related charges, while still out on bond in the child’s death case.

Brandy Lee Franco, 41, was booked into the Volusia County Jail just after midnight Thursday on charges of possessing a controlled substance without a prescription and advertising drug paraphernalia, according to jail records.

Both charges initially show no bond set.

Franco was already on bond for a felony tampering with evidence charge connected to the investigation into Michael’s death.

The boy was fatally mauled on Jan. 13 near DeLand while riding his bike; Franco’s dog, Kronos, was one of the two dogs involved in the attack, according to prior reporting.

Since Franco was released on bond in that case, her subsequent arrest may prompt a review of her bond status, potentially leading to more stringent release conditions or her detention in the Millett case.

The Millett family’s attorney and Volusia County officials have not yet commented on how the new charges might affect the ongoing criminal case. Channel 9 will provide updates as they become available.
