Driver killed in possible street-racing crash on I-4, troopers search for other cars involved

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday night along Interstate 4 in Volusia County.

Troopers said a 2020 Nissan 370-Z was traveling westbound on I-4 along with a Mustang and another vehicle. According to witnesses, the three cars appeared to be involved in a street race.

According to troopers, the driver of the Nissan lost control of his car, causing it to overturn multiple times on the exit ramp of Saxon Blvd.

Debris from the Nissan struck another vehicle, a 2011 Kia Sorrento, breaking loose the back window. No one in the Sorrento was injured, troopers said.

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

Troopers are looking for more information on the two other cars involved in the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.
