DELAND, Fla. — Volusia County deputies have identified the suspect in a kidnapping and rape at a DeLand motel, last week.
Deputies said Leshawn Thompson raped a woman at the Budget Inn hotel on Wednesday.

The woman told investigators she was looking for a friend when Thompson went inside the room, locked the door, and attacked her.
Deputies said Thompson lives in that motel and he knows the woman.
They also say he has an extensive criminal record, with 21 arrests, including one in 2011 where he was accused of molesting a 13-year-old girl.
