Motorcyclist killed in head-on crash, deputies say

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly head-on collision that happened Saturday night in Deltona.

According to deputies, a 73-year-old Deltona resident was killed when the driver of a pickup truck turned into his path.


The crash occurred at 8:20 p.m. near the intersection of Deltona Boulevard and Gaynor Road.

Deputies said John Candeto was riding his motorcycle southbound on Deltona Boulevard when a pickup truck turned into his path.

The driver of the pickup told deputies that he did not see the oncoming motorcycle.

Candeto was transported to the hospital in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.
