DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Daytona Beach police said surveillance video shows a thief stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of video game equipment from a Boys and Girls Club.
Investigators said a suspect broke into the Boys and Girls Club Wednesday night at the Dickerson Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
The electronics were donated to the children as a Christmas gift.
Detectives said the man was inside for about 15 minutes before walking off with two blue duffel bags full of video game systems, controllers and charges.
The center has roughly 100 members and leaders said many of the children are underprivileged and come from surrounding neighborhoods.
"It has to be someone who knew the layout because they were in and out real quick. They had probably been inside the building before and knew where the games were,” said Police Chief Craig Capri.
The police chief said his department will do what they can to replace the games and bring whoever did this to justice.
