WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — A Winter Garden resident reached out to Eyewitness News and said there is pooling water in her neighborhood and she wants the county to fix the problem.
"We have an issue with standing water," said resident Tiffany Kelly.
Kelly has lived on East Bay Street in Winter Garden for two years, but she said the issue is a recent one.
"The water you see now has been here for about two months," Kelly said.
Kelly’s next-door neighbor, Rosa Stewart, said she has the same pooling problem.
"The water is settling in our neighborhoods, causing green muck to be in the ditches. We are sick and tired of it," Stewart said.
Orange County officials told Channel 9 they are aware of the issue and have plans for a permanent fix, but there is currently not enough funding available for the project.
For now, the county set up a pump on Dunbar Avenue toward East Bay Street to alleviate some of the flooding.
"Everyone has the right to have decent, safe and sanitary housing, and we just don't because of the issues we have with our drainage," said Kelly.
The county said staff will clear the standing water in the ditches on Sept. 26.
